What does WiRE stand for?
WiRE is not an acronym. It's a name meant to reflect the mail plane or the telegraph wire of old—a mode of communication that penetrates deep into the wilderness, reaching men right where they are, out in the world, right where they spend their days. WiRE is meant to be a way for men to connect with God, to choose God, right in the middle of their busyness.
Why the lowercase "i"?
The lowercase "i" in WiRE represents the English singular, first-person, personal pronoun and signifies the author's (and the reader's) proper position in relation to our King, Jesus Christ. Because WiRE points to Jesus, exalts Him, and encourages surrender to His goodness and love and leadership, "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)
Who is the author?
I am Justin Camp. I live on the San Francisco Peninsula with my wife, Jennifer, our three kids, and one nervous golden retriever—and I believe God has called me to write about Him to men like you. I believe God's called Jennifer to do the same thing, but for women. So, in 2013, Jenn and I started Gather, a Christian nonprofit. Through it, we offer a new, hope-filled, honest perspective on God’s goodness and love to busy men and women. We create things for you that are beautiful and stirring, yet stripped-down and unpretentious . . . and that can fit right into your busy everyday life.
Prior to Gather, I spent fifteen years investing in high tech startups in Silicon Valley and a few as a lawyer in New York City. I like what I am doing now :-) Honestly, it’s one of the great blessings of my life to create resources like WiRE for men—all of which I handcraft to meet you right where you are, wherever you are. My simple and sincere hope is that you allow WiRE to equip you to pursue God (and enjoy Him) more earnestly. It'll do that for you, I promise . . . if you let it.
What is my Statement of Faith?
I believe God exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that He is a being of unimaginably wonderful power, goodness, and love. (Psalm 118:1; Psalm 145:1-9; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
I believe the world exists because God created it, that it belongs to Him and therefore we should cherish and care for it. (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1-2; Isaiah 40:25-26; 1 Corinthians 10:26)
I believe all human beings have dignity because they were created by God in His own image, and great worth because they are valued by God beyond our ability to measure. (Genesis 1:27, 31; Psalm 8:3-6; John 3:16; Romans 5:8)
I believe this world also has pain and suffering because human beings have fallen and sinned, and are estranged from God, from each other, from ourselves, and from creation. (Genesis 3:17; Romans 3:23; Colossians 1:21; Titus 3:3)
I believe God does not intend for sin and suffering to get the last word, but is at work to redeem and reconcile what He has made. (Isaiah 11:6-9; Colossians 1:21-23; Revelation 21:1-5)
I believe God has revealed the truth about Himself in the scriptures of the Old and New Testament, which are our unique and authoritative guides in faith and action. (Matthew 4:4; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
I believe God has expressed Himself uniquely in His Son Jesus, who lived, taught, died, and rose again for our sakes. Jesus is our master and teacher and savior and friend, and now reigns forever with the Father and the Holy Spirit. I believe the Spirit of God is now available so we can be closer to God than the air we breathe. (John 14:26; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26; Galatians 3:14;Ephesians 1:13-14)
I believe the Church is the community through which God wants to bring love, healing, and growth to the human race, to which He invites everyone who is willing to follow Jesus to join. (Matthew 18:18-20; John 1:12-13; Acts 1:8; Galatians 3:28; 1 Peter 2:9)

How Do I Calculate Read Time?
At the top of each WiRE, you'll see an estimated read time. Read time is based on the average reading speed of an adult (roughly 265 WPM). I take the total word count of a devotional and translate it into minutes—rounding to the nearest minute.
